After spending three nights at the Park Hyatt Zurich, it was time to change my hotel. There aren’t a lot of Hyatt’s to choose from in Zurich. Four to be exact. The Small Luxury Hotel was out of my price range and not accepting points. The Hyatt Place located near the Hyatt Regency is currently not opened for business.
Finally opened in April 2021, the Hyatt Regency Zurich Airport The Circle is an excellent addition to the Hyatt brand. The has 255 spacious rooms for solo travelers or families and everyone in between.

Location
The Hyatt Regency Zurich Airport The Circle is located in an interesting area. The hotel is located next to two different areas, Zurich Airport and The Circle.
First, the hotel is located right off the Zurich Airport and the Flughafen train station, but north of most tourist sites. The train station offers trains not just to main part of town but also to other parts of Switzerland. Right outside the train station you can hop on different buses.
The hotel is also located in The Circle (right off the train station). The Circle can best be described as a mixed use with shops, some restaurants and a supermarket. The Zurich Convention Center is also located in The Circle.
Signage was great to find the entrance of the hotel.
Booking
Like all my other Hyatt bookings, these nights were booked directly on Hyatt.com. Cash rates were hovering around 180CHF or $196 for the standard room.
This is a category 5 property, and you’ll need 20,000 World of Hyatt points for the standard room of 1 King or 2 Twins. WOH points are best earned from Ultimate Rewards cards such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred. You’ll then transfer your points to Hyatt.
I booked the standard 1 King room using cash. The valuation was only .98 cents per point. I typically like to make sure I use World of Hyatt points at least 2 cents per point or higher.
Check-In
I was given a 4PM checkout at the Park Hyatt Zurich but left around 3:15PM. I arrived a couple of minutes prior to the Regency’s stated check-in time of 4PM. The front desk representative was wonderful. She informed me that I was upgraded to a Regency Suite due to my Globalist status. Yay. Off to a great start. I was also offered late checkout, but since my flight left at 12PM; I declined.
The system was showing that a supervisor needed to check the suite. She offered to call right then, but I wanted to go out and explore the train station supermarket. I dropped my suitcase and backpack with the front desk. Before I handed my backpack to the representative, I mentioned that it was fragile. It contained my laptop and camera/lenses. That information was clearly passed on. When my bags were delivered, a different woman took care to hand my backpack to me as if passing a baby. That small touch really set the tone for my stay.
Regency Suite
I was given room 523 on the 5th floor. It was in the middle of the hallway away from the elevator. Noise wasn’t an issue as I never heard anyone even though there were a few occupied rooms on my floor.
This suite was massive. Not as big as my Big Sur Villa or National Suite or the Corner Suite, but this is probably my second favorite suite I’ve had the pleasure of being upgraded to. At 430 square feet, this suite has space for a two to four people depending on age.
The suite featured a bedroom, one full bath and one-half bath, a living room, office area along with floor to ceiling windows.
When you first walk in, there is a wardrobe area. This area is perfect for dropping coats or bags from shopping trips. There were two hangers, but you could ask for more if you needed it. There was a large mirror next to the wardrobe.
Just past the wardrobe, was the half bath. There wasn’t much to do but there was a toilet and large sink. Glossy tile covered the floor and walls. There was an outlet for a hair dryer or shaver. The floor was heated. Even though it was summer during my stay, the warm tile felt nice on my feet.
Was you walk further into the room, you enter the living room space. There was an L shaped couch, chair, table, lamp and television as well as an ottoman. The floors were made with a luxury vinyl but felt like hardwood. A yellow plush rug rounded out the room. There were plenty of pillows and blankets for the couch. The couch was comfortable, the chair not so much.
Waiting for me on the table was a few items. First there were two small cups and a bottle of water. I guessing these were left for everyone. I was also given a small welcome amenity of soft caramels in addition to a handwritten note welcoming me. The caramels were delicious.
The television was way better than at the Park Hyatt Zurich. There were plenty of English-speaking channels ranging from the news to USA. You could also connect your device via Google Chromecast. To stop glares from the sun there were light curtains and darkening shades all controlled from an in wall remote.
Between the living room and bedroom was a dual use space. On the right side was desk space including a chair. There was also some tissues and hand sanitizer. A mirror popped out on the right side of the desk. A woman might want to put makeup on here, but the lighting wasn’t that great for that use.
On the left-hand side, a space to put your luggage and hand your clothes. Four drawers were at the bottom to store clothes. There was also the in-room safe. Below the safe was a coffee and tea station. This included a Nespresso maker, electric kettle and two bottle of still water. A fridge was located below the drink station. It was filled with some sodas, and alcohol for cocktails.
Separating the living room and office area were pullout doors. There was also a set of pullout doors separating the office area from the bedroom. This is great for workers traveling with their families that may need to make a call or video chat.
When you go past the office area, you will enter the bedroom. The bed is centered in the room with a plush orange carpet underneath. The pillows didn’t get flat after putting your head on them. Each side of the bed had a table and light. There were also power outlet and two USB outlets. The television was in the far corner of the room. There was also small chair in the other corner of the room.
The bathroom was to the left when you first walked in the bedroom. Another pullout door separated the rooms. The bathroom was long and skinny. The sink was long, but with counter space on both sides. There were typical bathroom amenities available including lotion and hand soap from Pharmacopia. Towels were located beneath the sink. The floors were heated.
To the right, was the shower and freestanding tub. The shower had a rainfall head. Pressure was great and the water hot. A towel heater was across from the shower. There was also towel hooks.
To the left of the sink, was the toilet. There was also this little device next to the toilet, but I could never get it to do anything.
I wasn’t a big fan of the view from this room. It did overlook the park at The Circle. I never saw a bunch of people out there. The bigger issue was from the bathroom. It overlooked the other side of the hotel. The tub had a view of the restaurant.
Curtains throughout the room were controlled by a remote in the walls. I found them kind of confusing in the bedroom since there was many options. This could easily be fixed by some labels.
Food and Drink
There were a couple of options for food and drink onsite.
The first was the Regency Club located on the 9th Floor. You can get access in a variety of ways. As a Globalist, you get free access. If you are an Explorist, you can use your Club Access Awards. Globalists can also use these for their additional rooms. Finally, you can book directly into a room with club access. The Regency Club is a lounge that you can get free breakfast (if available) and drinks.
During my stay the lounge, the lounge wasn’t attended by any hotel employees. The door was wide open so I suppose anyone could gain access.
The lounge itself was beautiful with tons of natural light coming through the windows. Different types of seating was available everywhere. Couches, tables, and chairs provided seating for individuals and parties both indoors and outdoors.
The lounge wasn’t offering any food including breakfast. There were plenty of drink options. Coke, Coke Zero, Still and Sparkling Water, coffee, tea and several different beers.
A 24/7 market was available called Zum Mitnah. It is located in the lobby. There are some drink and sandwich options. I never tried anything from here.
Next door to Zum Mitnah was the main restaurant, Babel. It has Mediterranean inspired food. Most seating is indoors, but there are some outdoor seats. Most people seemed to be dining outdoors on both my mornings, but it never got more than half full. On the second morning, it was mentioned their buffet had started. I’ll touch on that in a bit.
I ordered eggs, bacon and toast with coffee. There wasn’t anything special to mention about it. So much so I didn’t feel compelled to take pictures. Instead, enjoy a picture of the table when I sat down.
I did check out the buffet on my second morning. It was the first morning the hotel had offered the buffet. There was a couple of bread options, sliced meats and yogurt/cereal/granola bar. You could get it for 30CHF. I still choose the menu option since I had Globalist.
You could also order room service, but it was expensive. With a train station nearby, you are better off heading there for lunch and dinner.
Bar Iris is an option for drinks. This wasn’t mentioned to me during my stay so I’m not sure this was open. It is located on the lobby level.
Amenities
The hotel didn’t offer a bunch for amenities, but did offer a spa and gym. I didn’t check out either during my stay.
From the images on the website, the gym is huge. There are different weight machines and cardio machines.
The spa contains a couple different saunas.
Hyatt Regency Zurich Airport The Circle Bottom Line
I much preferred this hotel over the Park Hyatt Zurich. The hotel was better for my taste and I felt the staff was much more caring. It’s worth noting that every interaction with staff was professional, polite and caring. They took the time to check that everything was okay.
My only complaint was the price of food. I didn’t care about breakfast since it was free, but I did consider having dinner there one night, but prices were outrageous. Hopefully as travel gets back to normal prices lower. After a short quick walk, you are at the train station and can easily get anywhere in Zurich.
The room décor was much more modern and felt more luxurious compared to the Park Hyatt Zurich. The Hyatt Regency Zurich Airport The Circle is a perfect location for exploring Zurich or an overnight layover. This will be my go to hotel in Zurich.
