After the short hop from Sydney, I arrived in a rainy Brisbane. After a quick Uber ride, I was at the doorstep of the Hyatt Regency Brisbane. The Hyatt Regency Brisbane is a massive hotel. The 292 room hotel is spread across twenty-six floors with only eight of those rooms being suites.

The hotel has a lot to offer in terms of amenities and location.

Hyatt Regency Brisbane Review

Hyatt Regency Brisbane Location

The Hyatt Regency Brisbane is located in the Central Business District on the north side of Brisbane River. The area is home to tons of skyscrapers. If shopping is your thing, there are plenty of shops outside of the hotel.

This is the only Hyatt affiliated hotel is Brisbane.

Hyatt Regency Brisbane Booking

I booked this directly with Hyatt in order to take advantage of my Hyatt Globalist status. I value the free breakfast and room upgrades that come from Globalist status.

This is a Category 3 World of Hyatt hotel.

Points required per night at Category 3 World of Hyatt hotels

During my stay, all nights were pricing at the standard points rates. For my five nights, I would need to use 60,000 World of Hyatt points. Cash rates were pretty low at $175 a night with a Hyatt Leverage rate. That a pretty solid 1.47 cent per point valuation. I typically like to see at least a 2 cpp before using points. Because of this, I ended up using cash.

Hyatt Regency Brisbane Check-In

My flight landed in Brisbane at 8AM. After taking an Uber, I arrived in at the Hyatt Regency Brisbane. The entrance to the hotel is in a small alley. It’s pretty odd, but the alley is quiet at night. The hotel lobby is a short elevator ride up.

There is a secondary entrance on the opposite site of the hotel. It is not accessible by vehicles. This entrance allows you to access the shopping area of the Central Business District.

I arrived in the lobby at 8:30AM. Almost six hours prior to check in. I was greeted by Jasper who was hands down one of the friendliest front desk agents I’ve every met. Jasper if you are reading this. You are fantastic. Understandably, my room wasn’t ready. I went to get breakfast and did little bit of work on my computer.

At 10:30AM, my room was ready. I was super appreciative of getting into my room so early.

1 King River View Room High Floor The Room

I was given a room on the twenty-six floor. The top floor in the hotel. I booked a standard room, 1 King. Since there aren’t a ton of suites, I didn’t expect a suite upgrade. Instead, I was given 1 King River View Room High Floor. It is the same room I booked just with a view of the Brisbane River and on a higher floor.

When you first walk in, the bathroom is on the left. There are two ways to enter it. One from the entrance of the room and another in the bedroom area. There are doors on both sides to close off the bathroom if needed. The shower was in the front of the bathroom. A handy clothesline was inside the shower. The wardrobe is behind the sink. It was pretty spacious. Two robes were included as was several hangers. Some drawers were in the center area of this space.

A mini-bar was available with several drinks and food items. There were no prices posted. When I checked-in, I was told that the water was included for elite. This was restocked daily.

The rest of the room was normal. There wasn’t a lot of features. A bed, small chair and table were provided. The bed was comfy. I got a lot of great sleep at night during my stay. What wasn’t comfortable was the small chair in the corner. I did enjoy the corner table when I was trying to work.

At first, I thought the artwork above the bed was boring. Eventually, I figured out, that it represented the Brisbane River flowing into the ocean.

Normally, I would complain about seeing the tops of buildings, but I rather enjoyed the view at the Hyatt Regency Brisbane.

About 30 minutes after I walked into my room, I was brought a welcome gift. A bottle of Pellegrino, mango and apply were given.

Hyatt Regency Brisbane Dining

Lennon’s

Several dining options are available on-site. I only ate breakfast at the hotel during my stay. Globalists are given free breakfast at Lennon’s.

Lennon’s is located in the lobby area of the hotel. The restaurant was small, but seats were spread out. You didn’t feel like people were on top of you though.

Breakfast was a buffet. But you could order eggs. There were tons of options on the buffet. In one section, salmon, sausages and cold cuts were displayed alongside different types of salad greens. Fruits and cheeses were rotated daily. On the hot side, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes were provided daily.

Coffee was bad. Most mornings, I had to ask the wait staff to fix the machine.

Hibiscus Room

In the afternoon and evenings, the Hibiscus Room was open. During my stay, the Hibiscus Room was closed on Monday and Tuesday. You can get drinks and a few different dishes.

You had the choice of inside or outside seating. The outside seating overlooked the outdoor pool.

When I checked-in, I was given five vouchers for a free drink. These can be used at the Hibiscus Room. Since I don’t drink, I chose between water and some immunity drinks.

Hyatt Regency Brisbane Amenities

The hotel also features a roof top pool. It rained during my entire stay in Brisbane. I never got the chance to relax by the pool. It was winter when I visited though. Not sure it would have been warm enough.

Hyatt Regency Brisbane Bottom Line

Aside from the issues with food, the hotel was overall pretty solid. I loved the room. The location and view were hard to beat. You can easily get around Brisbane on public transportation.

While this wasn’t a fancy hotel, I would recommend the Hyatt Regency Brisbane if you are planning a trip to Brisbane. Even at peak rates, its part to beat how many points is required per night.
