After spending 4 days in Sydney at a couple of hotels, it was time to move on to my next destination. But, I needed to make the short flight to Brisbane.

I’ve flown Qantas several times internationally including the flight to Sydney, but never on a domestic Australia flight. I was excited to see how this stacked up to my other Qantas flights.

This will be a quick review of just the seat. The flight itself was just a little over an hour. Not enough time for a full in-depth review.

Qantas 737-800 Economy Sydney to Brisbane: Review

Booking

I booked this a part of a multi-city cash ticket. I had a flight voucher to use from a previously cancelled COVID ticket.

If you aren’t using cash, one of the best ways to book this flight is through British Airways. There is only 467 nautical miles between Sydney and Brisbane. Short flights is where British Airways Avios shine. Economy goes for just 6,000 Avios!

Check-In

Check-in was rather difficult. The self-check-in kiosk was not allowing me to check in. The check-in counter wasn’t staffed until an hour and a half prior to departure. While this wouldn’t be an issue for a later flight, I was on the first flight of the day.

I didn’t mean to book the 6AM flight to Brisbane. I wanted to book the 2PM flight. I had issues booking over the phone with Qantas and ended up on the 6AM flight. Sadly, I failed to notice until a week prior to departure. Oh well.

The agent was able to assist me and give me a boarding pass. I was off to security within a minute.

Boarding

30 minutes before departure boarding began. Right on time. Even though I was in economy, I boarded in group 2 due to my Oneworld Emerald status. If I didn’t have status, I would have boarded with the rest of economy as one of the last people.

Seat

Qantas isn’t Emirates or Qatar, but the cabin was still appealing. The geometric patterns at the bulkhead helped break up all white from the rest of the cabin.

The economy cabin was arranged in a 3-3 seating arrangement with three seats on each side of the aisle.

The seat itself was nothing special. They remind me a bit of the new British Airways First Class seats some with the crisscross pattern. There weren’t any special amenities at the seat.

I assigned myself 10C, an aisle seat. The flight wasn’t even half full. I ended up with no one sitting next to me.

The IFE was small, but responsive. There were a bunch of different movies and television shows to choose from.

The tray table was a nice side. It easy accommodated my 15-inch laptop.

Qantas 737 Economy Sydney to Brisbane: Review Bottom Line

Qantas economy from Sydney to Brisbane wasn’t anything special. It was fine. Similar to what you would expect on a domestic US flight with Delta, American or United.

The flight departure on time and even arrived early. I always appreciate this. While this isn’t as special as international business or first class, I would absolutely fly this again for this short hop across Australia.
