After arriving in Santiago, you might need a hotel. The city itself has tons to offer, but is also a wonderful jumping off spot for the rest of the Chile and surrounding countries. While the following isn’t an exhaustive list of all the hotels in Santiago, the properties on this list do represent the best points hotels in Santiago.

Best Points Hotels in Santiago

InterContinental: Santiago

The only IHG property on this list is the InterContinental: Santiago. Its conveniently located in the Las Condes area of Santiago. There are plenty of fantastic restaurants nearby. If you enjoy hiking, there are trails nearby at the Aguas de Ramón Park. If you prefer to stay in, there are a couple of restaurants and a bar inside the hotel.

Cash prices hover between $150 and $175. Required points vary from 23,000 to 25,000 per night.

AC Hotel Santiago Costanera Center

The first of three Marriott hotels on this best points hotels in Santiago list is the AC Hotel Santiago Costanera Center. There are a couple of food options on site. The tapas place, Luna Bar, requires reservations. Outside of the hotel, the Costanera Center is a mixed use area that includes shopping center Gran Torre Santiago; the largest shopping mall in Latin America.

There are two expected amount for cash stays. $80 or $135. The lower price is typically on Friday and Saturday night. This is a category 4 property. You’ll need 20,000, 25,000 or 30,000 depending on off-peak/standard/peak nights. You could use one of your annual free night awards but there are probably better valuations you could get.

Renaissance Santiago Hotel

The next hotel on our list is the Renaissance Santiago Hotel. The hotel is located in the fashion area of Santiago Vitacura. There are Chilean and Asian inspired restaurants to try out as well as a bar.  If you need a little down time, Elential Spa provides several services including facials and massages.

Cash prices vary between $93 and $150 per night. Typically, cash prices would be around $139 pre-tax. This is a category 4 property. You’ll need 20,000, 25,000 or 30,000 depending on off-peak/standard/peak nights. You could use one of your annual free night awards but there are probably better valuations you could get.

Santiago Marriott Hotel

The Santiago Marriott Hotel is also located in the exclusive Las Condes neighborhood like the InterContinental: Santiago. The hotel offers five different dining options, fitness center and spa.

Cash prices range from $135 – $220 per taxes. As this is a category 3 property, off-peak/standard/peak nights will cost you 15,000, 17,500 or 20,000 respectively. Most points rights are valued at 20,000 points per night.

Hyatt Centric Las Condes Santiago

The third hotel in the Las Condes area of Santiago is Hyatt Centric Las Condes Santiago. This is also the first Hyatt property on the list. The on-site restaurant features French, Chilean and other international dishes. French dishes include terrine de foie gras, duck confit, duck magret, and steak tartare.

Cash prices range between $140 and $170 typically. This is category 4 property. Points prices will vary between 12,000, 15,000 and 18,000 depending on off-peak/standard/peak pricing. You can also use a Category 1-4 free night award.

Hyatt Place Santiago/Vitacura

Another hotel located in the post Vitacura neighborhood is the Hyatt Place Santiago/Vitacura. While this property isn’t a luxuries as the other hotels on this list, it does represent the best use of points in Santiago. The extended stay hotel offers tons of space for families and free breakfast.

Cash prices are the lowest of all the properties here averaging about $125 a night. It also comes at a great points price. You’ll only need 6,500, 8,000 or 9,500 for off-peak/standard/peak pricing. Please don’t use one of your free night awards here.

How to Earn These Points

While you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to IHG, you’ll lose a lot of value. You’re best path to being flush with IHG points is the welcome offers for the IHG cobranded cards.

Like IHG, Marriott is also a Chase transfer partner. In addition, you can transfer membership rewards points from American Express to Marriott Bonvoy. Save your flexible currencies for higher valuations and earn Bonvoy points from welcome offers. American Express does offer promo periods where you get a bonus on membership rewards points transferred to Marriott. This might present opportunities to get value. There are cobranded cards from both Chase and American Express.  

Hyatt is a Chase travel partner like IHG and Marriott. But transfers to Hyatt are generally a good value. Because of this generally good valuation, all Ultimate Rewards earning cards could be transferred to Chase. These are cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred. Hyatt also partners with Chase for the cobranded cards. The World of Hyatt card and the newly launched World of Hyatt Business card.

Best Points Hotels in Santiago Bottom Line

Notably missing from this list is the Hilton brand. But not because there aren’t any located in Santiago. Rather, all the Hilton hotels are under $100. When cash prices are low, check the travel portals you have access to. Points will most likely be cheaper. You could also use Chase Pay Yourself Back to offset the cost. As always run a valuation to ensure you are getting the best value out of your points.
