When I originally booked the Park Hyatt Auckland, I booked the standard room which is a 1 King room. I then used a Suite Upgrade Award to confirm myself into the Park Suite. I received the SUA after requalifying for Hyatt Globalist status. But that is not how it ended up working out.

The night before I was due to switch into the Park Suite from the 1 King, I received a call from the night manager that there was an error with my confirmed suite upgrade. All the Park Suites were taken that night.

This seems to be a systematic issue with the Park Hyatt Auckland. One of my friends had this same issue a couple months before I arrived. As part of the service recovery, I was upgraded to the Rooftop Executive Suite. This is one of the best rooms in the hotel. Do not expect to get upgraded to this if you are a Hyatt Globalist.

Park Hyatt Auckland Rooftop Executive Suite: Review

I did a full review of the Park Hyatt Auckland on a previous post. This will review will focus solely on the room.

The Room – Rooftop Executive Suite

This room is absolutely massive! If you are entertaining, this would be a great place. Since I was traveling solo, I thought it was a bit too much. Even with that, I loved this room.

I was assigned room 716. A suite on the top floor of the Park Hyatt Auckland.

When you first walk in, there is a bench to the right. Perfect to drop your shoes.

The first door in the room goes to the kitchen. While this wasn’t a full kitchen, it’s perfect for making small dishes. It had everything you’d need including plates, cutlery, knives, and mixing bowls. The small oven was so clean it looked like it had never been used. There were two large mini fridges in the kitchen. One was completely empty while the other housed part of the mini bar. Same options as the standard rooms.

As you walk further into the suite, there is a full bathroom on the right. I’m not sure why you would need an extra shower, but you have it. All the fixtures were gold to provide some elegant to the suite. This space would work help for a kid to get ready, but the lack of counter space would make it difficult.

Across from the first bathroom is open concept living area. This space includes a dining table and sitting area with television. The dining table could accommodate 6 people. It had a beautiful flower center piece. Above the dining table was an odd looking chandelier. It reminded me of a planetarium. On the table when I arrived was a welcome gift of still and sparkling water.

The rest of the mini-bar was on a table to the right of the dining table. It held snacks like cookies, chips and a few alcoholic choices.

The sitting area had two chairs and an L shaped couch. The chairs I didn’t find to be that comfortable but the couch was great. I watched some TV here that evening to relax.

Past the living space was the bedroom. This was one of the smaller rooms in the suite. The bedside tables were the exact same as in the standard rooms. A bench was provided at the foot of the bed.

On the left side of the bedroom was the large walk-in closet. There was enough space to fit two or three people’s clothes.

If one bathroom wasn’t enough, the main bathroom was massive. It had dual vanities, a large soaking tub and spa like shower. Sinks and tub were to the right when you first walked in while the toilet and shower were to the left. The toilet was a Toto bidet. I wish more hotels had these. The shower was amazing. There was a small bench to sit on it you wanted to turn this into a private sauna since the water got extremely hot.

Shower products were from Aesop. This was different than what the non-suites provided to guests. Blackout shades could be lowered to give privacy. These were available throughout the suite.

The last part of the room was the wrap around balcony. It covered the entire length of the room from kitchen to main bathroom. There were a couple different seating areas from unpadded chairs, a couch and loungers.

The views from this room were great. You had an entire view of the harbor. A great place to watch a sunrise and sunset.

Park Hyatt Auckland Rooftop Executive Suite Bottom Line

While I wasn’t happy that I didn’t get the suite like I planned, the rooftop executive suite was a fantastic upgrade! Even if it was just for the night.

I loved this suite. It was perfect. I wish I had more time to enjoy this suite. Late checkout for Globalist’s came in clutch. I 100% took advantage of that benefit. After the night, I was back in the 1 King with Harbor View and Balcony.
