After playing some musical chairs with my rooms at the Park Hyatt Auckland, I finally ended up in the suite I originally booked. I was excited to try this suite! The Park Suite is the only standard suite at Park Hyatt Auckland. This is the only suite type Globalists should be expected to be upgraded to at the hotel. If you have a suite upgrade award, this is the room type you can use it for.

Park Hyatt Auckland Park Suite: Review

I did a full review of the Park Hyatt Auckland on a previous post. This will review will focus solely on the suite.

The Room – Park Suite

I was assigned room 439.

When you walk into the room, there is a door in to your right. This lead to the huge walk-in closet, toilet closet and bathroom. I thought this set up was odd. For the closet, there are two areas to hang your clothes. Enough space for two or three people. The in-room safe is in this area. The toilet is on the other side of the closet. There was also a sink to wash your hands.

The minibar is across from the closet. Everything is the same across all the rooms.

As you walk past the minibar, you enter a large sitting area. It had a couple different places to sit. A small table was provided. It worked well for dining and remote work. There was a couch with a small chair. The chair wasn’t that comfortable, but the couch was great to relax. A television was near the couch. Chromecast was available, but I could never get this TV to connect.

Past the sitting area is the bedroom. This space was small relative to the rest of the suite. The king-sized bed sit in the middle of the room. Each side of the bed was flanked with side tables just like the other rooms. A bench sat at the foot of the bed. A television was in the far corner of the room. I had no issues with the Chromecast for this television. Floor to ceiling windows lined the entire outside wall of the room. Luckily, blackout curtains were provided for privacy.

The main part of the bathroom was through the closet. It was pretty big. A large soaking tub is located along the shared wall with the shower. The hotel provided bath salts. It’s always nice when they provide this. Not a lot of hotels do provide this. Across from the tub is the sink. Counter space was a bit The shower was spa like. Stream builds up nicely during a hot shower. There was another entrance to the bathroom through the bedroom.

The balcony was fairly small. It only had a small table and two chairs. The chairs weren’t that comfortable. I enjoyed the fresh air when I was in the 1 King Bed room. I was looking forward to continuing that in the Park Suite. Street noise is loud. It made it difficult to relax in the room in the evenings.

Park Hyatt Auckland Park Suite Bottom Line

I didn’t love this suite as much as I thought I would. The noise was a massive factor. Between the street noise and the venue on the rooftop of the hotel, there were some nights that I struggled to sleep. I almost asked to be downgraded back to the room with a view of the harbor.

It’s worth noting that the Park Suite and Harbour Suites have the exact same layout. The Harbour Suite is a premium suite while the Park Suite is a standard suite. Globalists should not expect an upgrade to the Harbour Suite. I recommend taking the non-suite option with a view of the harbor at the Park Hyatt Auckland.
