After spending a night in the standard room at the Hyatt Regency Sonoma Wine Country, I was able to change to the Sonoma Mountain Suite. Since I already reviewed other amenities on property, this review will only focus on the new room.
This room was way better than the standard room. Although it did have one weird quirk.
Hyatt Regency Sonoma Wine Country Review
Sonoma Mountain Suite – The Room
I was assigned room 481. Walking to the room was odd. I believe this is a section of the hotel undergoing a renovation or about to be renovated. There were paint spots everywhere.
My initial thought walking into the room was massive. A much better option than the standard room the night before.
A wardrobe was on the left when you first walk-in. This is where you could fine the safe, hangers, and coffee. A small coffee pot was provided. A couple of k-cups and tea packets were provided.
I enjoyed the sitting area. It had a couch and chair that were prefect for watching a late-night show on TV.
The bedroom area was separated by a wall. But you could walk on both sides of the wall. On both sides of the wall was a television. It would be difficult to watch both TVs at the same time. A desk was located on the wall nearest the bed.
The bed was placed in the middle of the room with a bedside table flanking both sides.
If you like massive bathrooms, you won’t be disappointed. The bathroom was as big as the sitting area. The toilet was in its own room. The sink was in the middle. There was tons of counter space. I didn’t quite understand the shower situation. There were two. One was a walk-in. The other was a tub shower combination. I guess this is perfect for people with young kids? Or a couple that wants to take dual showers?
In addition to the massive room, the Sonoma Mountain Suite comes with a balcony. It was the entire length of the room. There were two sitting areas. One area just had a single seat. The other had two seats. This would be a perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine.
The view from room 481 wasn’t great. It was a view of the parking lot.
Hyatt Regency Sonoma Wine Country Bottom Line
The Sonoma Mountain Suite was a step up from the standard room. It was excellent. I really wish my upgrade hadn’t been given away on the first night. The room wasn’t enough to overlook the issues with staff or the dirty public areas. I’d really recommend staying at a different hotel.
