One of the best ways to use Membership Rewards points is transferring to American Express’s travel partners. If you use the Amex Travel Portal, you are only getting one cent per point. By transferring, you can easily get five cents per point. All that means is you are getting more value from your points.

How to Transfer Membership Rewards Points to Travel Partner
The first thing you’ll want to do is log into your American Express account.
Once you are logged in, find where your MR balance is. Click on “Explore Rewards”.
Under “Earn and Redeem”, click on “Transfer Points”.
Now, you’ll want to link your loyalty account. Click on the airline or hotel program you are wanting to transfer to.
Next, you’ll verify the account. First, click on the card you want to use for verification. Then enter the four-digit number on the front of your card followed by the three digit number on the back.
Lastly, you’ll enter your loyalty account number. And click link account.
You’ll be automatically redirected to the page to transfer points. Enter the number of points to transfer in 1,000-point increments. Click the box to accept terms and conditions.
Finally click “Confirm & Transfer Points”.

Once you’ve submitted the points transfer request, log into your loyalty account to see if the points have arrived. Most points transfer instantly, but on rare occasions it might take seven days.
With any transfer, always make sure you confirm award space BEFORE transferring. Once you submit the request, points will not be returned to your American Express account.
