Most people know Park City, Utah for winter sports like skiing and snowboarding and the Sundance Film Festival. Most people head to Park City between November and April to enjoy the slopes. After all, part of the 2002 Winter Olympics were held in the city. The city is located about thirty minutes to the east of Salt Lake City. But Park City has more to offer than just snow.

All four major hotel brands have a presence in Park City. But this article is only going to focus on the most luxurious points hotels available.

Waldorf Astoria Park City
Hyatt Centric Park City

Best Points Hotels in Park City, Utah

St. Regis Deer Valley

First up is the St. Regis Deer Valley. This Marriott Bonvoy hotel is in a great location for winter sports lovers. It has a convenient ski-in/out along with access to a private ski valet. For those that might visit in warmer months, mountain biking and hiking trails are nearby. You can relax in the evening with the heated pool.

The hotel offers a spa year-round. Several dining options are available ranging from seafood to steak, and even French food. And even a terrace to enjoy a drink around a fire pit.

During ski season nightly cash rates can vary widely. I saw anything from $1,600 to up to $5,000 every night! If you go during the summer or fall, cash rates are a bit more reasonable at around $350 per night. Marriott recently introduced dynamic pricing. Like cash, points nights can vary. Lowest options were around 80,000 Bonvoy points per night. During peak season, nights can easily be 120,000 Bonvoy points. This is a great property to take advantage of Marriott’s fifth night free when redeeming points.

Depending on points pricing, you might be able to use a 85K Free Night Award. You can top those off with an additional 15,000 Bonvoy points.

Waldorf Astoria Park City

The next hotel is the Waldorf Astoria Park City. This Hilton hotel offers tons of paid activities ranging from mountain bike tours to snowshoeing. On site, you can enjoy the 80-degree pool or spa. Unlike the St. Regis, there is only one dining option available to guests.

Cash rates widely vary. During ski season, the average cash rate is $2,000 a night. Off-season rates are lower. You can expect it to be $500 a night. For points, standard rates are 95,000 Hilton Honors points per night. Hilton does have dynamic pricing. You might find points much higher.

Remember, that Hilton also has fifth night free if you have status. That’s easy to get if you hold one of their cobranded credit cards. Some Hilton cards offer a free night award. The Waldorf is a great place to use these FNAs at.

Hyatt Centric Park City

The final hotel is the Hyatt Centric Park City. This is the least luxurious of all the hotels on this list. But this is still a fantastic hotel. The hotel has in/out ski access at the sunrise lift as well as a private ski valet. The Hyatt Centric offers two dining options on property. The first is a full-service restaurant offering breakfast, lunch and differ. The second is a market with grab and go options.

This is a Category 7 World of Hyatt hotel. Cash rates are anywhere between $150 to $1,000 a night. I think that is a bit inflated, but there is still some good value here.

Because of wide range of cash prices, it isn’t always going to make sense to use points at this hotel. If you earn a Category 1-7 Free Night Award while working towards Globalist, the Hyatt Centric Park City could be a good use of the award.

How to Earn These Points

Both Hyatt, and Marriott partner with Chase. Marriott and Hilton partner with American Express. You can transfer your points from those flexible currencies. It doesn’t always make sense to do this. Because Marriott and Hilton redemptions requires tons of points, it is important to make sure you are getting two cents per point of value on this redemption and taking advantage of fifth night free. Hyatt is the exception to this. Hyatt transfers are typically pretty good value.

Because you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt, any Ultimate Rewards earning card can help you with Hyatt redemptions. Some of the best Ultimate Rewards cards include the Chase Sapphire Preferred and the Chase Ink Business Cash. Chase also issues personal World of Hyatt Credit Card and a World of Hyatt Business Card.

Hilton and American Express have four different cobranded cards. Three personal and one business cards. These typically have welcome offers for 100,000+ Hilton Honors points. Aside from the no annual fee Hilton Honors card, you can easily get Hilton status just by holding the card.

Marriott partners with both American Express and Chase for several credit cards. There six different cobranded cards between the two card issuers for new applications. These offers frequently change. It is important to sign up for these offers when they are offering 100,000+ Bonvoy points or free night awards worth up to 50,000 points. Keep in mind there are also restrictions between Chase and American Express when applying for additional Marriott cards.

Best Points Hotels in Park City, Utah Bottom Line

While IHG does have several hotels in Park City, they are budget hotels. While you can use IHG points for these Holiday Inns, they aren’t as luxurious as the options on this list.

For Hilton and Marriott redemptions, points needed can vary depending on day of week and time of year. Don’t immediately rule out using cash during off peak time periods. There can be some great cash rates during the summer months. These brands also offer fifth night free.
