London has plenty to offer for visitors. From old historical sites to more modern sites, every traveler will find something they love. There are even different foodie gems! After booking your award flights, it’s time to figure out where you will be sleeping each night. Each major hotel brand has a presence in London. There are plenty of hotels in London but what are the best points hotels in London?
Included Hotels in London:
St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel London
The Biltmore Mayfair, LXR Hotels & Resorts
St. Ermin’s Hotel, Autograph Collection
The London Edition
London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square
St. James’s Hotel and Club
Andaz London Liverpool Street
Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill
Hyatt Place London City East
Great Scotland Yard Hotel
St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel London
While you’ll need to take the tube to most of the major tourist destinations in London, the St. Pancras will get you a solid redemption.
You can choose from 60,000 Bonvoy points or $475 each night for a redemption rate of almost .8 cents each point.
The Biltmore Mayfair, LXR Hotels & Resorts
The Biltmore is located on the edge of Grosvenor Square. There are plenty of restaurants nearby if you don’t like the on property one.
Instead of spending $750, you’ll need 95,000 Hilton Honors point for each night. That comes to an almost .8 redemption rate.
St. Ermin’s Hotel, Autograph Collection
While I’m not a fan of this property’s décor, it does offer an incredible redemption for Marriott. Down the street from St. Ermin’s is Buckingham Palace and St. James Park.
You’ll need 40,000 Bonvoy points instead of using $404 per night. That’s a redemption of one cent per point.
The London Edition
Another incredible redemption courtesy of Marriott is The London Edition. You’ll be near The British Museum and some Underground stations to quickly get to other locations.
Hopefully, you have a card that gets extra points on hotels as nightly rates start at over $750. Instead of spending that use 70,000 Bonvoy points. That’s means your points are worth over one cent each.
London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square
Located on the corner Grosvenor Square, the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square is a modern hotel perfect for exploring some big tourist sites. A London Underground station is nearby.
Cash rates start at $540/night while points cost 60,000. Your points are worth over 1.3 cents each.
St. James’s Hotel and Club
Located near Buckingham Palace, this Small Luxury Hotel won’t allow you to use any of your Hyatt benefits. You will get free breakfast though.
This property costs 25,000 WOH or $400 each night. That’s a 1.6 redemption rate.
Andaz London Liverpool Street
Although you’ll need to take the Underground to get to most destinations, this is a wonderful property. It has a mix of old, new and quirky. There is an on-site restaurant so Hyatt Globalists can take advantage of free breakfast.
Exchange 20,000 World of Hyatt points for a redemption rate of 1.75 instead of $349 dollars.
Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill
Our next Hyatt hotel is located near the Marble Arch. Foodies will love the area.
Points nights start at 25,000, but if cash is king you’ll need $439 each night. That’s a 1.76 cent per point redemption. Higher than my standard 1.5 needed for Hyatt.
Hyatt Place London City East
This Hyatt Place is located outside the typical tourist area but with the excellent public transportation that’s not an issue.
12,000 WOH points is the lowest amount you’ll see on this list, but one of the highest redemptions. Cash rates are around $213 a night. That comes to a 1.78 redemption rate.
Great Scotland Yard Hotel
Located between Trafalgar Square and River Thames, this Hyatt hotel has a lot of charm. If you’re looking to get in an extra workout after exploring, the hotel has a fitness center.
Summer rates are high at $591, but points are low at 25,000. That comes out to a fantastic redemption of 2.36 cents a point!
How to Earn these Points
Marriott is a transfer partner of both Marriott and American Express. I wouldn’t recommend transferring your flexible points. Instead, focus on earning Bonvoy points through cobranded cards. Cards like the Chase Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card and Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card can quickly add to your points totals.
Hyatt points on the other hand are easy to earn. Since Hyatt is a Chase travel partner, you can easily transfer Ultimate Rewards points for your redemptions. That means cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Ink Business Cash can easily cover your hotel nights.
Hyatt also partners with Chase for their cobranded cards. Finish the welcome offers on both the personal World of Hyatt card and business credit card, you’ll easily have enough points for a week long stay at the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme.
While Hilton redemptions can cost more than Marriott or Hyatt, Hilton often have elevated offers. You can also transfer in from membership rewards earning card.
Bottom Line
A vacation to London doesn’t have to break the bank. Use your points and miles strategically and you can stay in a wide variety of hotels that fit your travel style. While these are just a sample of the hotels available in London, these do represent the best points hotels in London. Before you get ready to redeem make sure you know how to run an award search. If you still haven’t booked your flights, make sure you don’t waste your points.
While you can transfer to all these hotel programs from Chase or American Express, you don’t want to in most cases. Hyatt is the best value for hotel transfers using flexible points currencies. After that, stick to co-branded cards to earn these points.
