Located about a six-minute walk from the beach, The Laylow is wonderful. I’ve personally stayed here and found the property great. There is a restaurant on-site and a small pool. This is a category 6 property.

Bottom Line

Don’t forget Marriott gives the 5th night free when staying on points. While the name is misleading, you don’t actually get the fifth night free. It will be the cheapest night on the reservation. None the less, you still get the save some of your points. You will need enough points for the stay without the 5th night free.

Hilton also allows you to get the fifth night free with a catch. You’ll need Hilton elite status to qualify. That is easy enough to get with a card like the American Express Platinum or Hilton Aspire or Surpass.

Marriott does not waive resort fees when staying on free nights. Hilton and Hyatt do.

Hawaii is a popular destination so expect some competition when it comes to elite status upgrades. But you will get free breakfast depending on what status you may have. But don’t be so focused on hotels that you forget booking award flights to Honolulu.
