Best Points Hotels in Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam
The first option on this list is the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam. It’s located along the Herengracht canal and within walking distance of major tourist sites like the Rijksmuseum. The hotel occupies six 17th and 18th century homes.
On-site, the hotel offers several amenities including a fitness center, spa and afternoon tea. The big draw is Spectrum. It’s lead by Two Michelin Star Chef Sidney Schutte. Rooms are luxurious and modern. Bathrooms use marble throughout.
Keep in mind that Hilton uses dynamic pricing for all rooms. Premium rooms can easily cost over 500,000 Hilton Honors points per night. Standard rooms are more reasonable. You can expect to need 110,000 points per night.

Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht
The Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht is probably the quirkiest hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The hotel is now in the site of the former Amsterdam Public Library. All public areas give homage to the former space.
Rooms are on the smaller side but use the space effectively. If you are a Globalist, don’t expect a suite upgrade. There are only five suites among the 122 guide suites.
This is a category 6 hotel. Points needed will vary depending on the time of year.

The Hilton Amsterdam is located in the Amsterdam-Zuid area. This area is the furthest away from the major sites. Amsterdam’s extensive public transportation system makes it easy to hop around the city regardless of where you stay. The hotel also offers bike rentals to ride like a local. Rooms are beautifully decorated with pale colors throughout. The Hilton Amsterdam uses more vibrant colors in public spaces.
Standard nights will cost you 70,000 Hilton Honors points each night. Sometimes, you’ll find standard nights as low as 56,000. If you are planning to stay five nights, remember Hilton’s Fifth Night Free if you have elite status.

Hyatt Regency Amsterdam
The Hyatt Regency Amsterdam is the final World of Hyatt hotel on this best Amsterdam hotel list. I’ve previously stayed at this hotel and found it great. Service was a bit lacking at breakfast, but the room was great. The public areas of the hotel are beautiful. This is potentially my favorite hotel lobby.
The Museum District is a short walk away. You can easily get to the hotel with public transportation from the Airport.
The Hyatt Regency Amsterdam was previously was a category 5. Lucky for us points and miles people, it is now a category 4. That means you can use free night awards from the Chase World of Hyatt card! If using points, here’s what it will cost you.

Hyatt Regency Amsterdam
W Amsterdam
If you want to be right in the middle of the action, the W Amsterdam is going to be your best option. The hotel operates in two buildings. One is the site of the former KAS Bank. These rooms are more upscale. The other building is across the street in the former Amsterdam Exchange building. These rooms are more playful according to Marriott.
While the exterior of the building is historic, rooms are contemporary and elegantly designed. The hotel also offers a luxury spa, cocktail bar and a Wet Deck. Sadly, the Wet Deck is only open during spring and summer.
Because of Marriott’s dynamic pricing, points required will vary. You can expect to find nights between 50,000 to 75,000 Bonvoy points per night. Marriott’s Fifth Night Free will help you use less points.

Kimpton: De Witt Amsterdam
The only IHG brand hotel on this best points hotels in Amsterdam list is the Kimpton De Witt. It located in the city center right outside of Amsterdam Centraal train station. If you are hopping a train anywhere outside of Amsterdam, this is where you will depart.
The hotel is the former home of a 17th century poet. It offers modern rooms within the historic city. You can also enjoy free morning coffee and tea daily. One of my favorite ways to get around Amsterdam is bike. De Witt offers free loaner bikes.
Like Hilton, IHG has dynamic pricing. It’s typically dependent on the cash rate. Points nights can range between 30,000 and 60,000 IHG points per night.

How to Earn These Points
Hilton partners with American Express to issue their cobranded credit cards in the United States. You could transfer your Membership Rewards points to Hilton at a 1:2 ratio to book or use the portal. I wouldn’t recommend that unless you transfer to top off your Hilton account. It is better to earn via their four cobranded credit cards. These cards typically have high welcome offers that come around frequently. Don’t be afraid to wait for a better offer!
IHG is a transfer partner of Chase. But transferring your Ultimate Rewards points isn’t a path I would recommend unless you are just topping off your account for a specific redemption. Instead, I would recommend one anyone of the IHG cobranded cards. One of the best is the IHG Rewards Premier Business card.
Marriott points are easy to earn. While you can transfer UR to Marriott, I wouldn’t recommend it. You’ll use some value on the transfer. Only transfer points if you need a few to top off your account. Cobranded cards are the best ways to earn Bonvoy points. Both Chase and American Express issue Marriott cards.
Hyatt points are easy to earn if under 5/24. All Ultimate Rewards earning cards like the Chase Ink Business Cash will help you for Hyatt redemptions. Chase also issues a cobranded business card.

While I favor the World of Hyatt hotels on this list, I have to admit the Waldorf Astoria is super intriguing. It looks like a beautiful hotel. I’m a sucker for a hotel with great former life like the W Amsterdam.
Cash prices in Amsterdam are typically pretty high. But it’s always worth checking the cash price especially if there are any extra points earning opportunities. Those extra points can easily help earn points for a higher redemption.
