I’ve visited London a handful of times. Choosing a different area to stay each time. On this visit I chose the Andaz London Liverpool Street.
The Andaz London is quirky and gorgeous. The building dates back to 1884 as the Great Eastern Hotel, but has been a Hyatt hotel since the mid-2000s. While you can expect certain things from Andaz hotels, each is a bit different. Taking on the vibe of the neighborhood.
Here’s what you can expect.
Andaz London Liverpool Street Andaz Suite: Review
Andaz London Liverpool Street Location
Situated about a mile north of the London Bridge and near the trendy Shoreditch neighborhood, the Andaz London is in the perfect area to explore London. Sure its a bad bit further out than other hotels in Marylebone or Westminster, but it couldn’t be more convenient.
Andaz London is next door to the Liverpool Street Station. The station hosts both regional trains and several underground lines including the Elizabeth Line, Central, Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan. The Elizabeth Line is super convenient to getting to Heathrow.
Andaz London Liverpool Street Booking
The hotel is popular with business travelers during the week. Hotel prices can easily be in excess of $350 per night. This is a category 6 World of Hyatt hotel. Standard rooms range from 21,000 for off-peak nights, 25,000 for standard and 29,000 for peak nights. Like with business travelers, this is a popular hotel to use points at. Availability can go quickly during summer travel.
For my five night stay, I used 125,000 points transferred from Chase. After booking, I used a suite upgrade award to guarantee the standard suite for the stay.
Andaz London Liverpool Street Check-In
I arrived at the hotel around 4:00PM. I was greeted by the concierge at the door who took my baggage and offered me a water bottle. Then I was passed off to an Andaz Host which are their front desk agents.
My Andaz Host was very efficient. It took about five total minutes to get check-in. She explained the layout of the hotel and amenities. I was give my room keys and I was off to the room.
The Room: Andaz Suite
I was assigned room 372. It was right next to the elevator. I don’t normally like rooms so close to the elevator due to the noise. But I didn’t notice noise being an issue during my stay.
When you first walk into the room, you enter the bedroom area. It was very spacious.
The minibar and wardrobe are to the left when you first walk in.
One area where Andaz hotels shine is the minibar. It comes stocked with drinks and snacks. For drinks you get coffee, tea, still and sparkling water, coke, diet coke, orange juice and apple juice. On the snack side, you get potato chips and cookies. This gets refreshed daily.
The wardrobe had a small space to hang clothes. There were also some drawers to put clothes.
As you walk further into the room, you’ll find the bed. On both side of the beds are small floating tables. Above each table is a lamp and reading light. The television is directly across from the bed. Past the bed is a small sitting area. It had two small chairs and a table. This would be perfect for in-room dining. The suite comes with a welcome gift of red wine.
To the right of the sitting area is another room. Inside this room was a writing desk and sofa. The desk was perfect for remote work. The sofa pulled out into a double bed. This is perfect if you were traveling with additional people. I didn’t quite understand the room set up. But with historic buildings like the Andaz London is in you get these quirks.
As the Andaz London is a city hotel, you aren’t going to have breathtaking views. The views were okay. From my room, I could see the busy Liverpool Street.
The bathroom is to the right when you first walk into the room. It was pretty big for a London hotel and very white. Subway tiles were from the floor to ceiling with black grout. All the finishes were black. The Andaz Suite bathroom has a shower and soaking tub. The shower was on the far left while the shower was on the far right. The toilet and sink are in between along the far wall.
Andaz London Liverpool Street Dining
Breakfast was served daily in Eastway Brasserie. You can get to the restaurant through the hotel through a series of walkways. I found it was easier to exit the hotel and enter from the street.
Breakfast was a mixed buffet and made to order items. You could order pancakes, french toast or eggs from the kitchen in addition to the buffet. Buffet items ranged from pastries (croissants and donuts) to sliced meats and veggies. Hot items included beans, hashbrowns, and scrambled eggs.
Over the course of my stay, I tried a few of the made to order items like a spinach and cheese omelette, berry waffles, berry pancakes, french toast and fried eggs.
Andaz London Liverpool Street Bottom Line
Having stayed at a few other London hotels, the Andaz London Liverpool Street is my favorite London hotel. Liverpool Street Station next door made it super convenient to explore London and the surrounding areas. Highly recommend staying here for your next stay in London.
