After spending a night in the massive two-story Big Sur Villa at Alila Ventana Big Sur, I was able to move to a Pacific Coast Suite. A big part of this move was having a private hot tub for early morning and evening use. For three nights, we got to enjoy an amazing suite.

I’ve already covered the amenities and dining in my previous review of Ventana Big Sur. This review will only cover the Pacific Coast Suite.

The Room – Pacific Coast Suite

I was assigned room 40. This suite was the end unit. I love end units because you don’t have to worry about noise from neighbors. Although, I’ve never heard a peep out of anyone during my stays at Ventana.

The Pacific Coast Suite is a large open concept suite. When you first walk in, the massive bathroom is on the left. Tile covered nearly every square inch of the bathroom.

There were two sinks. Less counter space than the Big Sur Villa, but plenty of space to accommodate toiletries for two. The toilet room was to the right of the sinks and separated by a partial frosted glass door. This space was simple. To the right was a huge walk-in shower. The shower head was amazing. I loved there was a bench in the shower. The Pacific Coast Suite had a large soaking tub. It’s location was perfect in the room. You could watch TV while enjoying a nice soak. The downside of the bathroom in the Pacific Coast Suite was how open the space was. Luckily, there were pocket doors so you could close off the space.

Across from the bathroom was the mini bar. A Nespresso machine was available with several different types of pods. In the doors was some food and drinks. Apple chips, nuts, and gummy bears were available. This is also were some binoculars were available. In the fridge was two cans of coke, diet coke, sparkling water, still water, and chocolate candies.

As you end the main portion of the room, you find the bed, a couch, desk, a sitting area and a fireplace.

The Pacific Coast Suite had a king size bed. A table flanked both sides of the bed. I did find one thing odd about the bed. The bed was on a taller bed frame than normal. In front of the bed was a couch. Across from the bed was the television.

On the far side of the room was a desk and sitting area. If you plan on working from Ventana, the desk is perfect. Next to the desk was the sitting area. For those that plan of order room service, this is where they set up your meal. The coach in the sitting area was deep.

One of the coolest feature of this room was the windows at the top of the room. You could open them to let fresh air into the room.

The outdoor space was my favorite. I did some work each day from here. At first I thought the chairs would be uncomfortable, but I didn’t find that to be the case. The biggest part of the outdoor space was the hot tub. It was perfect. The controls for the hot tub were on the opposite wall.

You cannot discount the view! The room backed up to nature. On a clear day, you can see the Pacific Ocean.

Alila Ventana Big Sur Pacific Coast Suite Review Bottom Line

Even though this room was less space than the Big Sur Villa, I think I liked this room the best. It is probably my favorite out of the room types. We really enjoyed having a soak in the hot tub after dinner each evening. Then we would move indoors and sit around the fire and watch Netflix.

While the shower area would be a bit awkward with friends, that is made up by the large moving doors to block off the entire space. The rest of the room was quaint and a perfect place to relax.
