If you are looking for a hotel near the DFW Airport of a layover, take a look at the Hyatt Regency DFW International Airport. I originally planned a one-night stay before heading off to Doha. The Grand Hyatt DFW was way more expensive plus it wasn’t accepting points for my night.
This is a massive hotel with 811 rooms with just thirty-three of those being suites. It was packed due delayed and cancelled flights from a winter ice storm in Dallas. Even with that, I had a good stay.
Hyatt Regency DFW: Review
Because of weather, I ended up leaving around dinner time to catch a last-minute flight. For this review, I’ll only be focusing on the room.
Location
The Hyatt Regency DFW is one of three Hyatt hotels on-site at the DFW Airport. One is a Grand Hyatt and the other is a Hyatt Place. It’s located in the Terminal C area of the airport. Unlike the Grand Hyatt, it is not connected directly to a terminal. The hotel does have a convenient (and quick) shuttle service.
Booking
I booked directly with Hyatt using cash for a standard 1 Queen Room. It was about $130 after taxes and fees for the night using a Hyatt Leverage rate.
If you do want to use points, here’s what you can expect.

Check-In
Because of ice in Dallas, I left the Hyatt Regency Dallas in the morning. Ice was expected to get worst as the day went on. I wanted to make sure I was as close to the airport for my flight the next morning. It was just past 9AM when I arrived. Even though it was early, I was able to get into my room. I’m always grateful when that happens.
After a couple of minutes, I was handed my room keys and headed towards my room.
The Room – Executive Suite
On the way to the hotel, I noticed I was upgraded in the World of Hyatt app to the Executive Suite. The Hyatt Regency DFW went out of their way to upgrade me to this room. Technically, the Executive Suite is a premium suite. Globalists are only entitled to free upgrades to standard suites.
The Executive Suite is a 560 square foot suite with a sitting area and a separate sleeping area. There isn’t a door separating the sleeping area from the sitting area though. I was assigned room 623. A room at the end of a creepy hallway on the 6th floor of the hotel.
When you first walk into the room, there was a small coffee bar and mini fridge. There were a couple different types of coffee and some tea. I thought it was a bit weird that you could see the power cables for the Keurig and mini fridge.
The bathroom is just past the coffee area. It is a bit dated but worked fine. The sink space was to the left. It had tons of counter space. A shower and toilet were in a separate space with a door. The shower curtain was straight out of the early 2000s. A closet was located between the sink and shower spaces. Inside was a robe, sheets for the sofa bed, and iron.
Past the bathroom was the sitting area. I love this area. The couch could be converted into a bed. Perfect for those with kids needing an extra bed. Even if you didn’t, the couch was great for relaxing. Across from the couch was a desk. It works great if you plan on working remote. The desk chair was comfy.
Between the sitting area and sleeping area was a wall with frosted plastic. It was great for breaking up the space, but not so much for privacy or noise. In the sleeping area was a king-sized bed and television. I thought it was odd three pillows were provided rather than four.
The view from the room wasn’t nice. It was the parking lot. If you want views of a runway, the Grand Hyatt DFW is the better option.
Hyatt Regency DFW Bottom Line
The Hyatt Regency DFW works great for an overnight layover at DFW Airport for budget travelers. If you are looking for something more luxurious, the Grand Hyatt DFW is more your style.
This hotel is in desperate need of a renovation. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The room and public spaces were clean and in excellent working order.
